Simple trick to soothe your crying baby!

Discover the latest evidence-based solution for soothing a crying baby and promoting better sleep.

If you're a new parent, you know how tough it can be when your little one just won't stop crying or can't seem to get to sleep. It's estimated that up to 30% of infants cry excessively, which can lead to a lot of stress for parents and even, in some cases, child maltreatment.

But there's some good news on the horizon! A recent study has found that brief carrying of infants, or the back-and-forth "reciprocal motion" provided by a moving cot, can actually reduce infant crying and promote better sleep. That means that just five minutes of carrying your baby or a few minutes in a moving cot could be all it takes to soothe them to sleep, even during the daytime when they're usually awake.

It's important to note, however, that simply holding your baby in your arms doesn't seem to have the same effect. And if you're putting your sleeping baby down in a cot, you need to be mindful that it can potentially either interrupt or deepen their sleep, depending on the timing and technique.

So if you're struggling with a crying or restless baby, consider giving the "5-minute carrying, 5-8 minute sitting" method a try. Of course, every baby is unique, so it's crucial to pay attention to your little one's individual needs and behaviours.

This new research offers a simple and effective solution for parents struggling with infant sleep issues, providing hope and relief for both you and your baby. Give it a try and see the difference it can make in your little one's sleep patterns and your own peace of mind.
